M & M's
About This Painting:
M&Ms Chocolate - Forrest MarsForrest Mars invented the recipe for M&Ms chocolate during the Spanish Civil War. Mars saw soldiers eating pieces of chocolate covered with a hard sugary coating. The coating preventing the candy from melting in the hot sun. Forrest Mars received a patent for his manufacturing process on March 3, 1941.
When we were kids we would hold these little goodies in our hands as long as we could to see if we could get them to melt. If I remember correctly the color would come off on our hands requiring quit a bit of hand licking but the chocolate stayed safe in the hard candy shell.
