About This Painting: I think that reds are one of the most difficult colors to paint with. I use a litmited pallet and to get those bright reds with out dulling them is a challenge.In this painting for my dark areas I use transparent red oxide. I used transparent Indian Yellow this keeps the apples bright and shinny and still lets the red show through.

About This Painting: After I painted this apple core I thought of the title. I think titling work is one of the hardest part of being a painter. Some artist just use number but I post my painting on the internet and a number doesn't help someone find a painting of mine. So I keep a note book of possible titles.

This was my painting for the color challenge at DPW.

For this challenge we had to t choose from one of 3 color schemes: complementary, split-complementary or triadic, and create a painting with only those colors.

You may use either the traditional or Munsell wheel. One other option is to combine the complementary & split-complementary and use those 4 colors. (for example, red, turquoise, green & lime-green).

I used a split complementary palette , red, blue-green, and yellow green.
