Poppies and Sunflowers

I started this painting some time ago and got it back out a few days ago and started working on it again. Sometimes if you back away from something you are working on for awhile and come back to it you find just the right colors to make it work.When I started the painting I had been reading "The Yellow House" by Martin Gayford , a story of Vincent Van Goghs last few years and the two months that he and Paul Gauguin spent living and painting in Arles while living in a yellow house.

The sunflowers are for Vincent and the tiny figure going down the dirt road on foot is Vincent headed out for day of painting his beloved sunflowers.
