Red Snapper

Art By Delilah

Red Snapper
6x6

I have been painting a series of fish art lately. I am working on developing an idea for a very large work 4x8 feet. I am trying to decided how I want the light to look underwater. Color changes the deeper underwater you go. A large part of vision underwater is being able to distinguish different colors. Seeing colors underwater depends on the amount of light reaching the particular depth at which one is at. Another factor in seeing underwater is the condition of the waters and, more specifically, the conditions of the surface. There are several ways to make the colors easier to see. However, it is most important, to simply understand that colors change underwater and it is sometimes hard to distinguish between them.

As an artist I can forget about it and paint anyway I want or I can make it very realistic. In the red snapper painting I have decided to use colors the way I want.

This fish is really stunning...gorgeous bold coloring, and the rendering of the depth of the water is fantastic!
