I always start with a loose sketch when painting alla prima.

I paint a dark background.

I put in somme of the darker value.

I add more color to the dress.

I begin to add the flesh tones.

I then add the base color and shape of the violin.

I add more detail. I put in the base color of the hair and the bow of the violin.

I finish up the detail.
