Red White and Blue Cupcake, cherries and blue berries
About This Painting: Oil paints are extremely versatile. I used both impasto and glazing in this Fourth of July Cupcake oil painting. Oil paints can be used thickly in Impasto , like the frosting on the cupcake or extremely thinly in transparent glazes as I have done on the cherries ; they can be opaque or transparent. Here are is a tip to help you get the most from your oils when painting.
Tip:Always lay your oil paints out on your palette in the same order so that, with time, you'll be able to pick up a bit of a colour instinctively.
I use a limited double primary palette with a few other colour's that I use regulaly. I start with white on the left, move to the yellows, reds, greens, and blue. What ever way feels right to you is okay. Just put them in the same order each time.
