I have decided to paint another bee painting because I am a rebel with a cause. There is a new scam out in art land where I have been getting at least one email a day sometimes several form people pretending to be college professors writing books on bees and wanting more information on me and my art work. Gee Whiz I am sure my mother maiden name has influenced my work greatly.

Giuseppe Bergamini (director pinacoteca - Galleria Tiepolo - in Udine and an art critic) I am collecting materials (no object but only illustrations) about honeybee and other apistic subjects (like beehive, honey and the queen of honeybees) in painting and sculpture range. I am writing you this e-mail because I would like to ask you and help to continue this work. Do you have some notices regarding this
purpose? My "trip" (" the honeybee in the Art ") is publishing in following parts on the national journal for beekeepers (APITALIA).

I was Plien Air painting this week at Lake Tarpin Florida, fighting the swarms of bugs that kept getting stuck in my oil paints. Just one of the hazards of painting on site.These is a Legend about a monster in Lake Tarpin but I didn't see it the day I was painting, just bugs were my only excitement a one small gator.

Florida Coast oil painting
I was looking for something interesting to paint along the shore, when this kayak went by. I'm not sure if you can see the dolphins in the picture? There were two dolphins that kept circling the kayak as he went down the shore line. It was really a fun thing to watch.
I like this sail boat that was tied up. The challenge with plein air painting is everything keeps changing so you have to paint small and fast. This sail boat kept spinning around, so it gave me a challenge to decide which way to make it go.

If your paintings are fussy and overworked, this challenge is for you! It will force you to slow down, think and make each brush stroke count.INSTRUCTIONS: Draw your subject (any) on your canvas/board. Make sure you get everything in just the right place – this is very important for this challenge. Then, with a brush (if you have them use flats or brights – at least ½” wide), mix one color. Put down one stroke on your canvas/board. If it’s wrong, mix a new color and put a new stroke directly over the first. Mix a new color (feel free to adjust the first color, on your palette, to get the second, but make sure to start a new pile when needed). Put down one stroke. Mix a new color. Put down one stroke. You get the idea. Don't worry about edges – your painting SHOULD look sort of like a mosaic when you get done. If you start fussing, no dessert for you tonight!
HINTS: Squint at your subject – paint what you see when you squint. Ignore what you think you see. Step back a few feet after every single stroke – oh yeah, stand to paint! Remember that value is the most important thing to be accurate with. Your color can be completely off, but if the value is off your object(s) won’t look 3-dimensional.
