About This Painting:Cats are in constant motion are least mine are so if they are not napping it is best to take a photo , if you can get them to set still log enough to pose for one , and work from that. I tape it to my easel for a quick reference then work from that. I then take burnt sienna and sketch in the main shape. Because I am an oil painter I do not do a detailed drawing on the canvas, I would just paint it over. I paint the shadows first, then the mid tone values and finally the background.

I have put lots of texture into this painting. It is much larger then my normal daily work because I have been working on it for a few days. The painting is 14x11 with heavy impasto.

Beer Bottles

We have two son of a Dr who are our summer neighbors and these young men are so much fun, one is an attorney and the other will soon be out of law school at the " University of Detroit Law School ( top of his class) . These two Young men spend the weekends with their parents at there summer cottage( both single and great looking, where are all the ladies?). The one is an excellent chef while his brother prefers to take the sail boat out. But at night the neighbors all come over to the lake side fire. That is where the day become interesting.

Dad "The WINE DR" makes the best wine and I have taken up the gauntlet on this and I am learning the skill. He imports his grapes from California to mix his brew. I order kits to make mine .

Both the boys like to try different beer so they share their discovers with the rest of us at the camp fire. What could be better :great stories, marshmallows, a campfire, and interesting beverage to enjoy.

Dragonflies, bugs from art Nouveau

Several images keep recurring in my paintings, one of them is the dragonfly. I think the movement of the dragonfly is almost magical. When they fly, they dart in and out, and their wings are just a buzz of color. When they finally take a rest on a reed or small flower there is a spiritual quite to them.
